LGBTQ+ Protection

Protect LGBTQ+ People from Discrimination

I will advance federal policy that protects LGBTQ+ people from discrimination, expands access to care, and defends safety and equal opportunity – not just in principle, but in enforceable law.

That starts with passing the Equality Act to establish clear, consistent non-discrimination protections nationwide across employment, housing, education, credit, public accommodations, and federally funded programs. These protections should not depend on what state you live in or how a local agency chooses to interpret the law. I also support the Do No Harm Act to ensure the Religious Freedom Restoration Act cannot be weaponized as a loophole to deny services, evade civil rights obligations, or undermine equal treatment.

I will also prioritize safe, inclusive schools where every student can learn without fear of harassment or intimidation; I oppose punitive forced outing mandates.

I will stand with LGBTQ+ service members and veterans. I support the Fit to Serve Act and efforts like the SERVE Act to ensure LGBTQ+ veterans are not denied benefits they earned because of discriminatory discharges, and to make sure our government honors service with equal respect and equal support.

I will work with colleagues in Congress to deliver practical, enforceable civil rights protections so LGBTQ+ people can live openly, safely, and with equal dignity under the law.
